The book programme

No author charges

Authors pay nothing to publish. Books are sold in print and e-book editions through major retailers.

Rigorous review

Each manuscript is assessed by the editors and at least two independent experts before acceptance.

Permanent and citable

Each book receives an ISBN and a DOI, is recorded on Zenodo, and is deposited with the British Library.

Publish with us

We welcome proposals for research monographs, edited volumes and advanced textbooks. A proposal should include:

  • Working title and a 300–500 word description
  • Table of contents with a short summary of each chapter
  • Intended readership and comparable published books
  • Short CV of each author or editor
  • Estimated length and planned delivery date
  • One sample chapter, if available

    Complete the online proposal form.

  2. Editorial assessment

    The editors check scope and quality and may ask for revisions.

  3. Peer review

    At least two independent experts review the proposal or full manuscript.

  4. Agreement

    Accepted authors sign a publishing agreement and deliver the final manuscript.

  5. Production

    Copyediting, typesetting, proofs, ISBN and DOI assignment.

  6. Publication

    The book is released in print and e-book editions, recorded on Zenodo with a DOI and deposited with the British Library.

Policies

Copyright and rights

Copyright and publishing rights are set out in a publishing agreement signed by the author and the press before production begins.

Publication ethics

We follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Plagiarism, data fabrication and coercive citation requests are not tolerated.

Peer review

Manuscripts are reviewed by independent experts. Reviewers declare any conflict of interest, and review reports remain confidential.

Preservation

Each book has a permanent DOI record on Zenodo and is deposited with the British Library under UK legal deposit.
